Perkins in the Community

I believe in Conscious Evolution. My father and mother raised their son to think beyond the way we are to what we could be.

I want to help create in Ishpeming an example for the rest of the country of how a small town can take control of its destiny and make the society it wants to live in right here and right now.

When people focus on service communities blossom.

Dan Perkins Construction, Inc. typically donates about $10,000-$20,000 of roofs a year to organizations serving the public in our area. We reached our $250,000 mark in donated roofs in early 2017.

I am a member of the Ishpeming Lions club and a zone chairman for 5 of our local clubs. I see in Lionism the possibility for world cooperation based on the mission of service. Hundreds of thousands of clubs with over 1.4 million members working side by side in over 200 countries to serve mankind with absolutely pay is an optimistic indicator that great things are possible for all of us.

Some forward thinking members of our community and I started an organization called Partridge Creek Farm. This is an educational farm that seeks to build farm to school programs and gardens throughout the town. We want to engage kids in the local food movement, become a little less reliant on imported food, and more engaged in our capacity to take care of each other. This initiative has a lot more to offer us than simply better food...although better food is a clear benefit. We'd like to expand Partridge Creek Farm model to nearby towns over the next few years and ultimately, to the Upper Peninsula as a whole.

Other projects on my horizon include a community center for the kids on Main Street Ishpeming and a Lions Auction house for taking donated items and raising money for the Lions mission. All of the projects are done with the wonderful members of the Upper Peninsula family of volunteers who are here on Earth to make this place and our lives worthwhile. It is my proud pleasure to be among you.
